Corn cob drying facility launched

Asia’s largest facility at Karimnagar

Kaveri Seeds which develops quality hybrids of key Indian crops has announced the commencement of its corn cob drying facility at Molangur in Karimnagar.

The plant is Asia’s largest and the first of its kind cob dryer, according to a press release. The plant has a biomass, fully automated with state-of-the-art infrastructural capability with a capacity to dry 1,456 tonnes per cycle.

The company invested ₹20 crore exclusively for cob drying facility in its existing integrated seed conditioning and packing facility, spread over 15 acres of land. The cob drying facility could process 400 tonnes of fresh corn cobs per day.

Chairman and MD of Kaveri Seeds G.V.Bhaskar Rao said on Tuesday that they were investing in state-of-the-art enabled seed processing facilities in order to meet rising demand for high quality and high performance seeds. He said the plant launched in Telangana would help increase germination and vigour and the shelf life of seeds. thereby help manage the inventory better from this season onwards.
