Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao charged the leaders of the Congress party with playing unnecessary politics on diverting of Singur water to Sriramsagar project (SRSP). He said that the government would provide water for irrigation for combined Medak district and meet all the requirements.
“Did the Congress ever provide water for two crops in the district? Why were they silent when the Singur water was reserved for Hyderabad and the water meant for Hyderabad diverted to Andhra Pradesh? Did they ever provide for irrigation?” asked Mr. Harish while addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone, along with Transport Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy, for the construction of new bus stand here in the mandal headquarters town on Sunday.

“We supplied water for irrigation of around 30,000 acres last year and for 40,000 acres this year under Singur and seven villages are being supplied water under right canal in Sadashivapet mandal which was recently inaugurated by MLA Chinta Prabhakar. We will provide irrigation for third crop as well under Singur. As the crops are drying up water is being released to SRSP and what was wrong in it?” he asked.
Announcing that both Sangareddy and Sadashivapet would be developed, he said that the an outer ring road linking Nanded and Akola road was being built with an estimated outlay of ₹1,000 crore.
Mr. Mahender Reddy said that the bus stand, being built at an estimated cost of ₹1.29 crore, would be completed within four months. He said that the government has allocated ₹1,000 crore for purchase of new buses and mini buses would be allotted to rural areas.
