Congress flays KCR on Polavaram

July 15, 2014 12:54 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:35 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Congress has criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for shying away from opposing the Centre’s efforts to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act for transferring seven mandals of Khammam district to AP.

“He is aware of the fact that it is he who had sought de-merger of AP to pre-November 1, 1956, status in his representation to the Srikrishna Committee in 2010. The Centre will question him on that if he tries to oppose the transfer of the seven mandals to AP in the name of submergence in Polavaram project,” Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said here on Monday.

The NDA government promulgated an ordinance transferring the seven mandals after it assumed office. Later, the amendment bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and it is trying to push it through the Rajya Sabha.
