Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked officials to draft a comprehensive policy for Telangana which could provide a line of direction to the development of the State while having equal focus on all districts.
Mr Rao asked senior officials to start working on the policy which should include areas like what should the State’s economy be vis-à-vis Indian economy, the new State’s goals. The officials should also study the development patterns of newly formed States and gather information from States and Centre. He wanted the draft policy to be department-wise and district-specific. It should include policy on revenue, industry and education, in which the district headquarters and rural/tribal areas are viewed separately. He wanted involvement of eminent personalities drawn from various fields to help in chalking out draft policy.
Resources could be drawn from premier institutes like the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resources Development Institute, Administrative Staff College of India, National Institute of Rural Development and the Lal Bahadur Sastry National Academy of Administration, to ultimately draw up a road map, he said.
