Chekumuki science fest inaugurated

JVV efforts to promote scientific spirit lauded

The relentless efforts being made by the Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) to motivate young minds imbibe scientific temper and develop rational thinking came in for wide appreciation from the speakers at the inaugural of the three-day State-level Chekumuki Science Fest-2017, which got off to an exhilarating start in Kothagudem on Friday.

Noted molecular biologist and former director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) Ch. Mohan Rao hoisted the National Flag at an impressive inaugural ceremony held at Bharat Public School premises in the coal town.

Superintendent of Police Ambar Kishor Jha, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Director (Planning and Projects) B. Bhaskar Rao, and a host of distinguished personalities from various spheres addressed the gathering.

JVV State president M. Adinarayana presided over the function. Schoolchildren those who excelled in the mandal and district level Chekumuki talent contests from across the State are participating in the three-day mega science fete.

Essay writing and quiz competitions, cultural programmes, among other interesting events, marked the inaugural day of the fest. The fest will feature a slew of exciting programmes including ‘Science Talks’, ‘Meet the Scientists’ and ‘Miracle Exposure’ designed to stimulate students interest in science and technology.
