Chartered accountants asked to educate people on GST

The role of Chartered Accountants has increased manifold with the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the country from July 1, opined District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad. Participating in the 157th Income Tax Day celebrations organized by the Income Tax Department and chartered accountants of the district in Karimnagar town on Monday evening, the Collector called upon the chartered accountants to educate the people in general and business community in particular to ensure that they pay the taxes promptly.

He also informed the CAs to play a responsible role in educating the people about the importance of the GST.

Stating that the progress of the country lied in the payment of taxes, he urged the people to pay the taxes for the development of the country on all fronts. Terming the demonisation as an historic event in the country, Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka also said that the role of CAs had increased with the demonetisation and the implementation of the GST.

He said that each and every person pays taxes indirectly to the Government. Joint Commissioner of Income Tax K. Ranga Rao and others were also present.
