Centre, State accused of backtracking on poll promises

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will take up protest programmes on anti-worker policies of the State and Central governments later this year. The programme will be chalked out at the first State-level convention of the trade union which will be held at Mancherial between September 27 and 29.

Talking to mediapersons during a preparatory meeting for the convention, AITUC State president T. Narasimhan, CPI State executive committee member Gunda Mallesh, Singareni Collieries Workers Union general secretary Vasireddy Seetaraman and AITUC district president Kalaveni Shankar and general secretary S. Vilas accused the State and Central governments of going back on promises made during the last election. “Mr. Modi has initiated anti-worker and pro-industrialist policies at the Centre,” he said. They also reminded of the promises made towards regularisation of contract workers in Singareni
