Kasarla Vaijayant, a school teacher, has a passion for serving cows that are abandoned. It started a few months ago, when the Municipal Commissioner Ramanachary decided to provide some sort of a shelter for the cows that have been creating traffic problem in the town.
The old pump house located adjacent to the main road in the town was selected for this purpose which is already having some space to keep the cows in a restricted environment. However, it has become a Herculean task for the staff of municipality who were already busy with their regular activities.
Mr. Vaijayant stepped in to help them. He initially took up the job of caring 22 animals and now the number has increased. They had to administer fluids to save some of the cows. Feeding fodder has also become a problem. Meanwhile, Neeti Kailasam and some other philanthropists also got involved in the activity. Three shelters are planned for the protection of cows which would have fodder space, water supply and cement ground so that it can be cleaned easily. The organisers are also planning to provide a delivery room for the cows. So far they spent about Rs. 1 lakh, a financial aid extended by interested persons.

“We are spending huge amount on fodder and other requirements. We have also planned to construct three sheds which would be ready shortly. A Srikrishna statue will be installed here. We will make this as a place of worship where devotees can make a Pradakhina and feed cows as well without interfering,” Mr Kailasam told
