Nanda Kumar Reddy, principal of MNR Medical College, was forced to resign on Saturday after a reported brawl with students.
According to sources, Mr. Nanda Kumar Reddy reportedly manhandled one P. Lakshman, a second year MBBS student, leading to the trouble. Alleging that the principal had commented on his caste, Mr. Lakshman along with other students staged a dharna in the college and demanded his resignation.
The students also lodged a complaint with Superintendent of Police B. Sumathi. Succumbing to the pressure mounted by students and other organisations, Mr. Nanda Kumar Reddy submitted his papers and left the college.
