India women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj and the former India left-arm spinner S.L. Venkatapathi Raju appreciated Kapil Pathare, enterpreneur-cum-author, for writing the book ‘A Tall Order’ featuring 10 legends of Indian cricket.

The book essentially presents an insight into the career of each of the legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan, Mr. Pathare remarked at the book release function here on Wednesday.

The book, published by Popular Prakashan, has a foreword by the great Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya.

Everlasting memory

“The book is about a galaxy of stars of Indian cricket who descended on the cricket field at almost the same time and left us everlasting memories. Each of the men featured in the book have bought laurels to the country in a unique way. The book is all about the tribute to these 10 men who were unarguably the demi-gods of Indian cricket,” he pointed out.

For her part, Mithali felt happy that people were aware that India women would be playing in the World Cup next month in England.

“It’s very easy to lose focus but we must put our best foot forward. Having just completed 100 ODIs with the team, the women’s cricket team is certainly going places,” Ms. Mithali commented.

Long association

Mr. Raju went down memory lane recollecting the time he spent with some of the legends mentioned in the book during his playing days.

“I consider myself privileged to have played alongside these legends. Each one of them deserves to be mentioned so that budding cricketers and future generations can seek inspiration from this elusive list,” the former India cricketer observed. “There’s so much to learn just by sharing the same dressing room as them and I hope this book serves that purpose to anyone who loves the game of cricket,” he said.

Playing host to the event was the mother-son pair of Vandana and Karan Shete.

“This event is the coming together of both C’s — Cricket and Chicken. Chicken, for the budding cricketer is a very important part of their diet because of the high protein content. The chicken we serve across all outlets contains 50% less oil so it’s considered to be a very healthy source of diet,” they remarked about Genuine Broaster Chicken Hyderabad, the brainchild of Karan Tanna, CEO of Yellow Tie Hospitality, being associated with the book release.
