CPI(M) senior leader Tammineni Veerabhadram has alleged that BJP came to power at the Centre and TRS in the State not on the basis of development but by playing with the emotions of people.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday on the sidelines of the youth conclave held here on Friday, Mr. Veerabhadram said the BJP got votes in the name of religious extremism highlighting it as ‘nationalism’.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to bring back black money from abroad and generate one crore jobs every year. Instead, about 1.8 crore jobs were lost. The agriculture sector has been facing serious problems and the government has failed to address it. It has been making efforts to privatise the railways,” he noted.

Referring to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s promise of giving pattas to tribals cultivating them, the CPI(M) leader alleged that cases are being registered against farmers taking up podu cultivation. “Shifting loyalties by elected representatives is not right and justified. This is not the Telangana that the people had aspired for during agitation. We will fight for political values,” said Mr Veerabhadram.
