Demand Rythu Bandhu for tenant farmers

Farmers led by Rythu Ikya Vedika and CPI district units participating in ‘vanta varpu’ in Karimnagar district on Thursday.

The “Sadak bandh” (road blockade) called by the farmers’ organisations from Khammam to Karimnagar district passed off peacefully in Karimnagar district on Thursday, with the participation of farmers of different organisations and supported by the CPI district unit. Incidentally, the police have not made any arrests of the farmers.

The farmers’ organisations have demanded that the government provide financial assistance under Rythu Bandhu to all the tenant farmers and correct irregularities in the issuance of pattadar passbooks to the farmers. The Sadak bandh programme was organised in Gattu Duddenapalli village outskirts of Manakondur mandal in Karimnagar district. Though there was blockade of traffic for some time, the police diverted the traffic by barricading the agitation of the farmers on one side of the road. The farmers also participated in the ‘vanta varpu” - community cooking and eating on the road.

Rythu Ikya Vedika district president Muduganti Venkat Reddy, CPI district secretary K. Ramgopal Reddy were also present.
