Nalgonda Member of Parliament Gutha Sukhender Reddy on Thursday accused the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee leaders of having a ‘negative attitude’ towards the people of the district.
Referring to drinking and irrigation needs here, in the wake of the continuing crisis situation at Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam Projects, he said that the Congress leaders did not even attempt at representing the issue to the Government of Karnataka, where the party is in power.
“Even after Almatti/Narayanpur reservoirs are brimming with water there, repeated requests for 15 tmcft water for ensuring drinking water facility have not been answered,” Mr. Reddy said.

“It is in your (Congress) hands, if there is some commitment towards the people you should get the approvals in 24 hours,” he said.
On Yadadri Thermal Power Station, coming up in Damarcherla mandal in the district, the Minister said that the ‘main hurdle’ - unauthorized encroachers, who are in ‘Person Interested’ category under the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 has been resolved.
They will be given a compensation of ₹ 5.07 lakh per acre. A total of 702.29 acres of forest land at Veerlapalem village has been diverted for the project.

“The farmers are happy. They will receive the ‘compensation cheques’ in about a week’s time,” he added.
The work on 4,800 MW project will start next month, plans are afoot to generate about 1,600 MW power by 2019 and achieve the full output by 2020, he said.
Giving back to Nalgonda should be the attitude of leaders when its people had been supportive and elected Congress to power several times, he said as a piece of advice.
“They should talk about drinking water and irrigation issues and setting up a medical college here instead of taking Dandayatra to Nerella, missions for Karimnagar Medical College and propaganda against the TRS Government,” Mr. Reddy said.
