Artistes suspended for code violation

District Election Officer and Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad had suspended eight artistes belonging to the Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi for violating the model code of conduct and participating in a political programme and canvassing for former legislator Gangula Kamalakar in Karimnagar town.

The Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi artists participated in a political programme of some people joining into the TRS at Bhagathnagar cross roads in Karimnagar town on September 30 without permission of Deputy Director (Information and Public Relations). The DD (I&PR) had served notice on the artistes on October 4. The artistes replied on October 5 stating that the former legislator had instructed them to perform and explain to people about the developmental programmes of the state government.

Not satisfied with the reply and violation of model code of conduct.

The Collector placed under suspension all the eight artistes — A Shankar, D Murali Goud, P Sravan, K Srilatha, P Archana, Ch Radha, S Sayila Srinivas and V Sudheer. They were also instructed not to leave the district headquarters during the period of suspension pending inquiry.
