Incessant rains during the last two days inundated several low-lying areas in various parts of Karimnagar district and Manthani revenue division in particular, on Sunday.
The district received average rainfall of 46.8 mm on Sunday. On the other hand, Manthani revenue division recorded 124.8 mm rainfall. The Manthani mandal recorded a whopping 19 cm rainfall. Mahamutharam and Mahadevpur mandals received 13.2 cm each, Kataram 13.4 cm, Kataram 10.2 cm, Kamanpur 12 cm and Manthani Mutharam received 7.5 cm rainfall.
Following the rains, 15 interior villages in Mahadevpur and Mahamutharam mandals were cut off. In Manthani town, the Bokkalavagu overflowed, disconnecting road services between Gangapuri and Boinpeta villages.

Similarly, Ramagundam mandal recorded 15.2 cm rainfall. The rains forced people to remain indoors in the entire district. The rains also dampened the spirit of Ganesh immersion festivities in the district. In Karimnagar, the rains caused extensive damage to the bad roads due to the execution of underground drainage works.
Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: Normal life was thrown out of gear following the continuous rain in the district. However, it brought cheer to the farming community.
Several parts of the district witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall resulting in the reduction of electricity consumption. Power cuts, which were the order of the day till date, suddenly stopped, thereby enabling farmers to use electricity freely to pump water to their paddy fields.

However, the district received less rain as compared to its counterparts in Telangana.
Adilabad Special Correspondent adds: Rains battered Adilabad with some places receiving heavy downpour continuously for over 24 hours, dislocating normal life. The district administration swung into action to control possible damage to life and property as streams were overflowing and some dams received unusually high inflows.
A control room with telephone numbers 08732-222302, 222802 and 225529, has been set up at the District Collectorate. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will also be stationed at Sirpur (T) on Monday in view of any emergency that could arise, especially on the eastern side of the district.
At Kadem, villagers got panicky as the irrigation project reportedly received heavy inflows during the day. The administration has asked the revenue and police officials to stay put in order to infuse confidence among the locals.
Some 140 people at Kannepalli and 200 at Dabba villages in Koutala mandal were shifted to safer places as the rain threatened to inundate houses. Asifabad Sub Collector Prashant Patil is monitoring the situation from Sirpur (T).
The road between Koutal and Bejjur mandal was damaged at many places, hindering connectivity. No loss of life has been reported, but there was some damage to standing crops and houses besides the disruption of power supply in rural areas and suspension of coal production in open cast mines.
The district received an average rainfall of nearly 11 cm until 8 a.m., which helped decrease the deficit in rainfall this season to 32 per cent. Bejjur recorded the highest rainfall of about 32 cm while Dahegaon recorded nearly 27 cm, Sirpur (T) 23 cm, Vemanpalli 21 cm and Nennel 20 cm.
In Vemanpalli, about 500 acres of cotton was inundated in addition to water-logging in 200 acres of paddy. A house belonging to Ramagiri Yellakka was completely damaged, according to Tahsildar B. Ramesh Goud.

Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Moderate rain was reported in Medak district. Some of the low-lying areas were inundated due to incessant rains. However, officials claimed that no loss of life or property was reported. Places like Narayanakhed, Zaheerabad, Siddipet and Medak witnessed continuous drizzling. Officials said that the district had received 6 mm rain till Sunday morning.
Warangal Special Correspondent adds: The incessant rain threw life out of gear in many agency mandals while road network was disrupted in Mulugu and Euturunagaram mandals.
The overflowing Boggulavagu in Mulugu, Dayyala vagu and Jampannavagu in Mulugu mandal cut off scores of villages while rivulets flowing in spate in Eturuanagaram cut off Ilapur, Kothur, Tupakulagudem and other villages. The district has been witnessing incessant drizzle during the past two days. This is expected to ease the drinking water situation. The tanks all across the district were brimming with rainwater.
Meanwhile, water level in the Godavari at Ramannagudem in Eturunagaram mandal reached 8.76 metres on Sunday.For the last 24 hours, the river has been receiving huge inflows and the water level reached 5.5 metres by Saturday evening. With the increase in the river water level, the causeway between Ramnagar and Ramannagudem was overflowing, causing disruption to the movement of vehicles.
