Teams comprising members of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has launched a three-day survey in Khammam rural mandal on Friday, to identify the issues concerning the livelihood of rural women, particularly the members of the self-help groups, and assess the implementation of various government schemes meant for them.
The teams conducted a questionnaire-based survey at M. Venkatayapalem, Gudimalla, Pedda Thanda, Thallampadu, Kasirajugudem and several other villages under the direct supervision of AIDWA State president Buggaveeti Sarala, secretary Mallu Lakshmi, vice-presidents B Hymavathi and Ashalatha, Central Committee member Afroz Sameena, Khammam district secretary Macharla Bharathi.
It is intended to ascertain the views of rural women on the implementation of schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Stree Nidhi and Abhaya Hastham. Talking to reporters Mallu Lakshmi, along with other AIDWA leaders, alleged that there was a huge gap between claims on the implementation of various welfare schemes meant for women and the on-ground realities. The recent survey conducted by the AIDWA in Nalgonda district brought to the fore the lacklustre implementation of the MGNREGS, Stree Nidhi and other schemes, she said.

A dharna will be held under the aegis of the AIDWA district committee in Khammam on Monday demanding urgent steps to address the grievances of women wage-seekers of MGNREGS, SHGs.
