Mulugu MLA Seethakka on Tuesday accused the State government of declaring a war on Adivasis in the name of Telanganaku Haritha Haram. She said while the aboriginal people were being persecuted and prosecuted for cultivating forest lands timber smugglers were even made MLAs due to the government being favourable to them.

Ms. Seethakka was interacting with the Kolam tribal of Kolamgondi in Kagaznagar mandal in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district who were evicted and put up in the Vempally timber depot a few days back. She criticised the government for launching welfare programmes for all sections of society but ignoring Adivasis.

The MLA warned of an agitation in case Adivasis do not get justice in terms of podu lands. She reminded Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao that he had promised to give pattas on podu lands being tilled by the Adivasis.
