Adivasis demand scrapping of Chellappa Commission

The Adivasi Simha Garjana demanded scrapping of the Chellappa Commission looking into feasibility of admitting Valmiki Boyas and Kaithi Lambadas in the list of Scheduled Tribes.

The Simha Garjana was organised at Boath mandal headquarters on Sunday by the Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samithi. to demand rights of Scheduled Tribes. It was attended by a large number of Adivasi Gonds from Adilabad and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. Among others, the meeting demanded removal from the list of STs the names of migrant Lambada individuals and strict implementation of the Land Transfer Regulation 1 of 1970. There was also a proposal to lodge a complaint with Election Commission of India on migrant Lambadas enjoying dual votes, including that in Maharashtra from where they came.
