An action plan has been formulated to implement the universal services delivery system, using high-end technology, in the limits of over 800 police stations across the State. According to the Director General of Police, M. Mahender Reddy, this would help provide effective policing to citizens.

Emphasising the need for skill development and leadership abilities among the police staff, he asked them to ensure equal justice, while not leaving any chance for discrimination between rich and poor. Best and effective policing is possible if there is inclusivity and police coordinate with other departments, he said.

Mr. Mahender Reddy arrived here on Friday, as part of a programme which entailed visiting all the Police Commissionerates and district police headquarters. He was received by IG of Police Steven Ravindra, Deputy IG of Police N. Shivashankar Reddy and Commissioner of Police Kartikeya. Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao, Mayor Akula Sujatha and leaders of different political parties also called on him. Since he had worked here as Superintendent of Police earlier, he was familiar with the district.

Addressing the police officers’ meeting, he described people as police without uniform and police as people with uniform. To create trust and good impression on the uniform, police should undertake useful programmes, he said, adding that change should come in the way the police functioned.

He suggested to the police to make efforts to implement universal services delivery system in all the 33 police station limits in the district in next six months, and thereby improve respect for the police. Police should feel that people were their owners and behave friendly with all, he said.

Lauding the Nizamabad police for the effective use of technology in controlling offences and catching culprits, he said that the initiative the district police had taken for the prevention of road accidents was exemplary. It was possible with the convergence of other departments, he said.
