Accommodation for sadhus

May 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - KHAMMAM:

Plans are afoot to provide necessary facilities to sadhus, who are expected to throng Bhadrachalam, popularly known as south Ayodhya, in large numbers during the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu to be held in July this year.

The district administration has mooted a plan to provide accommodation facilities to sadhus at Sarapaka near the Manuguru crossroads, around 5 km away from the temple town. Land measuring 1,800 acres has been identified for the purpose at Sarapaka, official sources said. The Revenue Department has also identified select sites near the pushkar bathing ghat at Mothe in Burgumpadu mandal for providing temporary accommodation to sadhus from north India and elsewhere in the country. A delegation of sadhus representing “Khaki Akhada” met Palvancha sub-Collector K. Kalicharan, the district special officer for Godavari Pushkaralu, two days ago. The sadhus reportedly urged the special officer to provide them accommodation in the vicinity of Bhadrachalam town.
