If history fascinates you, then visiting this mandal headquarters will surely make your day.

Kondapur, about 70 km from Hyderabad, was once ruled by the Satavahanas during which period it built trade relations with the Roman Empire.

Many archaeologists say that the place not only had Buddhist culture, but also the Brahmanic one. The museum here houses precious items that were found during excavations at Kotagadda, about one kilometre to the east of the museum.

Some of the remains of pottery have three ratna mudra, an important aspect of Buddhism, on the outside. The vessels they used depict steam cooking system followed during that period and the swastika symbol hints at the fact that they used to worship Lord Sun. The Brahmini script on some of the exhibits shows that the kingdom was also ruled by Mouryas and they had cordial relationship with the Satavahanas. The phinia type of construction on top of the house allowed free flow of rainwater, but it was done in such a way that prevented any damage to the main structure.

The museum exhibits terracotta figurine, sharpening stones, bone bangles, clay pendants, copper rings, chains with semi-precious stones, pre-historic animal fossil bones, monolithic tools, iron tools of Aryans etc.

But those who are planning to visit this place should make their own arrangements.
