January 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

It was a dream come true for villagers, mostly the tribal people of Veernapalli in Yellareddypet mandal of Karimnagar district as they visited the model Gangadevipalli village of Parkal Assembly constituency in Warangal district on Sunday.

To further development in Veernapalli, which was adopted by Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar under Sansad Adarsha Grama Yojana scheme, the MP had organised an educational tour for around 200 villagers including youth, women and elderly persons. The bus yatra was flagged off from Karimnagar town by Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma.

Gangadevipalli village is a model village and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Sansad Adarsha Grama Yojana scheme after reading about this village. This village had attained distinction in the country for all-round development with the participation of the entire community. The village has managed to achieve cent per cent literacy among adults, total prohibition, total sanitation with toilets in every household, CC roads, and plantation of trees. Another characteristic of this village is that there are no disputes among the villagers. The village has been able to achieve all these milestones with the support of Bala Vikas voluntary organisation. The MP said that the Veernapalli villagers were able to take an active part in the development of the village with the participation of the entire community.
