Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna on Saturday exhorted people to participate in Telanganaku Haritha Haram (THH) with the same vigour as they did in separate Telangana struggle. He said it was necessary for improving forest cover in the State.
Participating in Haritha Haram at Nutnoor in Indervelli mandal and Nagapur in Utnoor mandal before proceeding towards Jannaram, Mr. Ramanna said the State government was aspiring to increase the forest cover from 20 per cent to 33 per cent through the ambitious tree plantation drive.
At Jannaram, the Minister participated in THH at the market yard and deer park. At Kadem, he planted saplings at Laxmipur village and later was joined by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Anita Ramachandran to review the progress with MPDOs of Khanapur and Mudhole Assembly constituencies.

Meanwhile, the Excise Department conducted Haritha Haram in the district for which Additional Commissioner, Excise, T. Prasad, was the observer.
The department planted 70,000 wine palm saplings across the district, which included the drive in Mavala gram panchayat, during the day.
