TRS has failed to keep its promises: CPI(M)

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which made many promises during the election campaign, has failed to live up to the expectations of the people, said CPI(M) district secretary T. Uppalaiah here on Tuesday.

The SC/ST and minority communities, who constitute a major percentage in terms of population, still remain deprived of their due share in welfare and development schemes. The TRS has failed to fulfil its promise. The Left parties have been demanding that the government make allocations on the basis of population of communities. The funds meant for the poor and the downtrodden were diverted by successive governments, and the present government was no exception, he said.

Addressing senior party cadre here, Mr. Uppalaiah said the Mahajana Padayatra undertaken by State secretary T. Veerabadhram received a huge response which spoke volumes about the discontent among people. The padayatra would complete 150 days soon, and on the concluding day on March 19, a massive public meeting would be held at Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao visited Warangal several times and made multiple promises, but failed to keep them. He had promised to give ₹300 crore for a Textile Park, IT hub, outer ring road, and underground drainage, but nothing has been built so far, the CPI(M) leader said.

“Our party advises the ruling party members to stop making tall claims and deliver promises immediately if they have any commitment towards developing Warangal,” Mr. Uppalaiah said.

The meeting was attended by S. Vasudeva Reddy, M. Chukkaiah, G. Prabhakar Reddy, and Ch. Rangaiah, among others.
