NABARD workshop on subsidy schemes held

Workshop aimed at sensitising bankers, government officials and farmers to capital investmentsubsidy schemes initiated by the government

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) conducted a district-level workshop on capital investment subsidy schemes of the Government of India at DCCB here on Thursday in Karimnagar town.

The meeting was attended by bank staff, officials of Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, farmers, NGOs and others.

The workshop was aimed at sensitising the bankers, government officials and farmers to different capital investment subsidy schemes initiated by the government.

Salient features

NABARD AGM R. Ravi Babu explained the gathering the salient features and guidelines of different schemes, including solar pump-sets for irrigation, dairy development, production of bio-fertilizers and organic manure, agri-clinics and agri-business centres, godowns, marketing infrastructure and others.

He said that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) was providing subsidy for solar home lighting at Rs. 100 per watt up to 300 watts and Rs. 50,000 for agricultural pump-sets.

He also asked the farmers in the district the purchase milching animals under Dairy Development Programme and take up calf rearing, start vermin-compost units and dairy parlours for sustenance.

Lead district manager D.A. Chowdhary, DCCB vice-chairman P. Mohan Reddy and others were also present.
