March 14, 2015 01:53 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:32 pm IST - Hyderabad:

The Telangana Government is preparing a concept paper on the implementation of free and compulsory education from kindergarten to post-graduation. All political parties, teachers and students' organisations besides other stakeholders will be consulted and the concept paper placed before the State legislature, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari.

Replying to a question raised by K. Laxman (BJP), he informed the Telangana Assembly on Saturday that the KG to PG Scheme would be implemented before commencement of the next academic year. The question of teacher-student ratio, provision of mid-day meal, uniforms, textbooks, location of schools within a distance of one kilometre from their houses and earmarking of 25 seats in private schools to poor students would also be addressed, Mr. Srihari said.

He said that a three-member committee was set up for implementation of the Right to Education Act.
