The students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, came up with new ideas — about 300 engineering students from various departments gave physical shape to their ideas by innovating several items which solve real life problems.
Named ‘INK Makers 2017,’ the event was held at the innovation garage of NIT over the weekend. The programme was held by INK, an organisation which identifies young talent and helps them build their ideas. INK partnered with NIT Warangal to conduct its first in a series of five ‘INK Make-a-thons,’ which it intends to conduct in other NITs across the country.
Programme head C. Nishcya said, “The Ink Makers programme is an impact-driven initiative designed to celebrate invention and innovation aligned to the current wave of the ‘Make in India’ movement. It aims to identify and nurture these ‘makers’ across India.”

As many as 300 students divided into 80 groups worked on finding solutions to real-life problems.
A group of students, who call themselves Seez, designed a prototype for a smart bag which alerts its user, either a school or college student, to carry books according to their every day time table. If any of the books which they need to carry is not in the bag, it alerts the user on their smartphone.
Many such inventions were made.

The organisers of INK said the next event was scheduled in NIT-Surathkal in February and Manipal University in March, with two others yet to be confirmed.
