GWMC allocates Rs. 100 cr. for Smart City Mission

The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) allocated Rs. 100 cr as its share for the Central Government’s Smart City Mission (SCM).

Mayor Mr Nannapuneni Narender said they were allocating the amount from the special grant of Rs. 300 cr announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to be allocated for Warangal every year for the next three years.

GWMC is also preparing to lay new water supply pipe lines.

The present supply pipe lines were built during the 1970 and are in a very bad state with numerous leakages. GWMC plans to lay the new pipelines under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Construction of 26 service reservoirs, laying of Trunk will also be conducted at a cost of Rs. 129.00cr under the scheme. State Government and Municipal Corporation were supposed to share the budget.

GWMC would be spending Rs. 59.50cr out of the special grant towards this. Similarly Rs. 16cr is allocated to development of parks, Grave yards, Community halls, Meat markets and Vegetable market.
