Telangana police kill former naxalite Nayeemuddin

Former naxalite Nayeemuddin, wanted in over 100 criminal cases including the sensational killing of IPS officer K.S.Vyas and his associate, were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in Shadnagar Town, about 50 km from Hyderabad on Monday morning.

On a tip off that some unidentified persons were taking shelter in a house in Millenium Township in Shadnagar town, police raided the place. On seeing the approaching police, Nayeemuddin hailing from Nalgonda district reportedly began shooting from his personal weapon. The police returned the fire resulting to his instantaneous death.

Visuals aired by TV channels showed two bodies lying outside a house in Millenium Township. Police sources said three persons were inside the house and began firing at the police. The entire area was cordoned off.

Nayeemuddin, after his surrender formed a gang and began extortion and settlement in a big way. He is accused in the killing of IPS officer Vyas, naxalite leader Sambasivudu and Konapuri Ramulu, civil liberties leader Purshottam and balladeer Belli Lalitha.

For a over a decade, Nayeemuddin indulged in a series of criminal activities and targeted surrendered naxalites, civil liberties leader.

Till reports last came in, police search was still on and the entire area was cordoned off. Mahabubnagar SP Rema Rajeswari and other senior officials rushed to Shadnagar to oversee operation.
