The saffron brigade swarmed Sri Anjaneya Swamy Devasthanam at Kondagattu in the district on the occasion of Hanumajjayanti here on Tuesday.

Devotees in thousands arrived in large numbers from different parts of the State to participate in the celebrations and offer prayers to the presiding deity.

The devotees, wearing Hanuman deeksha mala and saffron outfit, trekked to the temple barefoot braving the scorching sun.

The temple shrine was packed with Hanuman deeksha devotees. They meditate for 41 days and end their prayers at the shrine by taking a holy dip in the tank and making offerings to the deity. As usual, the devotees had to face several problems due to non-availability of adequate water in the tank.

The available water turned murky, but the devotees had no choice but to bathe in the same water. Though the authorities had made alternative arrangements to supply water through pipeline, it wasn’t sufficient. The pilgrims also faced problems getting drinking water while private traders reaped riches by selling bottled water at a higher price. However, the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations passed off peacefully without any untoward incident.
