Even as Haritha Haram is gaining popularity with people taking part in the programme in large numbers, Collector Neetu Prasad has given a fillip to the plantation drive by tying ‘rakhi’ to saplings on Saturday.

Students of Government High School, Sapthagiri Colony in the town, made use of the occasion of Rakhi festival to spread the message of conservation of nature. On the occasion, Collector Neetu Prasad said: “We tie rakhi to our brothers for their wellbeing and protection as also to show our everlasting bond of love. Similarly, we are now tying rakhis to trees for the protection of nature”.

Appreciating the government school authorities for launching a symbolic campaign to educate students about the importance of protecting plants, she said: “If we protect the trees, they will protect us from pollution and ensure that there is sufficient rains and bountiful crop yield”.
