25 villages in Rajanna-Sircilla district declared cashless

Measures being taken to declare the entire district cashless, says Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar

The newly-formed Rajanna-Sircilla district, which emerged the first open defecation-free (ODF) district in the State, is now gearing up to emerge as the first cashless transaction district.

Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar said they have so far declared 25 villages as cashless in the district. They include Ramannapalli, Mushtipalli, Sarampalli, Gopalraopalli, Tadur and Chinthal Thana in Sircilla mandal; Rajannapet and Almaspur villages in Yellareddypet mandal; Deshaipeta and Kollamaddi in Gambhiraopet mandal; Cheekode and Kondapur villages in Mustabad mandal; Muskanpet and Vallampatla in Illanthakunta mandal; Anupuram, Mallaram, Marupaka and Hanmajipeta villages in Vemulawada mandal; Narsingapur and Mallapur villages in Boinpalli mandal and Mangalapalli, Malkapet, Venkatraopalli, Mamidipalli and Nagaram villages in Konaraopeta mandal. In all these villages, the authorities have opened bank accounts for all the residents. The Collector said they appointed business correspondents in all the villages and introduced micro ATMs to facilitate cashless transaction. He also said they distributed 46 PoS machines in the villages.

Mr. Bhaskar said that the banks adopted 64 villages in the district and ensured that 46 villages had cent percent bank account holders. He said they were taking all measures to declare the entire district cashless soon.
