Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdary alleged that the ruling TRS leadership was wooing leaders from other parties in the name of creation of new Assembly constituencies consequent to the proposed reorganisation of the districts.
“The persons at the helm of affairs in the State may go in for early polls in 2018 separately for Assembly and Parliament in pursuance of its selfish political interests. Let them first clarify on their failure to fulfil the promise of making a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana,” she said.
Ms Renuka was speaking at a function organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on Friday to felicitate her on being nominated as the chairperson of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests.

The ruling TRS leadership is hell-bent on encouraging defections from Opposition parties due to its apparent lack of organisational strength, she charged, alleging that some selfish elements joined the ruling party to serve their narrow political and business interests.
Congress cadres, who formed the backbone of the party, remained intact, she noted, calling upon the party cadres to revitalise the party in its traditional citadel of Khammam district with renewed commitment.
Any attempt to intimidate our party cadres by the persons at the helm of affairs will not be tolerated, she said, adding that a helpline centre will be set up at the party office here to redress the grievances of the party cadres. She slammed the TRS government for allegedly trying to acquire lands for Mallanna Sagar Project by undermining the interests of scores of local farmers in Medak district.

Ms Renuka said a series of awareness programmes will be conducted to enable the farmers across Khammam district harness biotechnology and adopt other modern farm practices to boost farm productivity. The DCC president A Satyam and other Congress leaders spoke.
