Youths surrender before court

Three youths, who are wanted in connection with a murder, surrendered before a court at Shencottah on Monday. Vice-president of Melapaattam panchayat Balamurugan was murdered by an armed gang at Palayamkottai on April 20 and the Palayamkottai police have registered a case against 10 persons.

Even as the hunt is on, five persons – Pon Muthuraj, Ajit, Suresh, Aasaithambi and Palani Selvam – all wanted in connection with the murder, surrendered before the court at Shencottah on last Wednesday.

Against this backdrop, P. Karuththapandi (26), G. Siva (25) and M. Esakki (24), all from Melapaattam, surrendered before the court on Monday and were remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.
