Woman robbed of jewellery, three held

Three persons were arrested for allegedly attacking a girl and robbing her of 74 sovereigns of gold and eight kg of silver ornaments from her home here recently.

Swetha, daughter of Ravisankar, a tamarind merchant, was attacked at her house in Kumara Koil Street on February 21. Police have booked a case and formed special teams to detect the case. The teams arrested Guru alias Gurunathan (28), a carpenter from Veeranam village near here, Saravanan alias Elango alias Aravinth and Shan alias Shanmugam of Kolathur, Chennai. Police found that Guru gained entry into the house in the guise of taking picture of a cupboard he made for them some time ago. Police seized robbed valuables and a country made revolver from the gang. – Staff Reporter
