Water level goes up in Mettur dam

There is increased inflow into the Mettur Dam on Thursday. The dam was receiving 18,999 cusecs on Wednesday and it increased to 20,970 cusecs on Thursday evening. The water level which stood at 69.57 feet on Wednesday rose to 70.60 feet on Thursday against its full level of 120 feet.

The storage too improved from 32.330 tmc to 33.218 tmc against the full capacity of 93.470 tmc.

About 10,000 cusecs of water is being discharged from the dam for the Samba season in Cauvery Delta and another 600 cusecs for the farm activities in Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts under the East-West canal irrigation scheme, according to the PWD sources.
