VOC’s grand daughter voluntarily campaigns for PWF

Marakatham Meenakshi Raja, grand daughter of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaram Pillai has started campaigning for the PWF on her own “to install a corruption-free government.”

“After Independence, I have got a rare opportunity in the 2016 elections. So also voters in the State as we have found an alternative to corrupt political parties” she says while briefing about her mission.

“Before Independence, freedom fighters sold their property and sacrificed their lives for freedom which would benefit all. What is happening now? A few politicians have been reaping the benefits of freedom and accumulating wealth by plundering natural resources,” she says.

“The State needs quality projects not freebies. For example, the pipeline laid under the Seevalaperi-Thamiraparani drinking water project during K. Kamaraj’s rule is been functioning well even after 50 years, despite engineers predicting its lifespan as 30 years,” Ms. Meenakshi Raja says.

“When I heard that DMDK president Vijayakant might join hands with one of the Dravidian majors, I sent several e-mails to him and his wife Premalatha not to take a wrong decision. Luckily, all good leaders have joined hands. I do not belong to any political party. No political leader has invited me for campaign. I have come voluntarily to campaign for the PWF as its leaders are good,” she says.

Ms. Meenakshi Raja came to Dindigul by a cab from Kovilpatti in the morning and joined the campaign. An M.Phil in French, she drew public attention with razor sharp questions. Ms. Meenakshi Raja, settled in Chennai, had kick-started her campaign in Thoothukudi and covered Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar districts so far. She did not allow candidates to foot her travel bill.

‘I am here because all good leaders have joined hands to fight the polls’
