May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - ERODE:

Residents of Solakalipalayam hamlet of Sennasamudram panchayat in Kodumudi Panchayat Union approached the district administration on Monday seeking inclusion under Green House Scheme.

They said over 60 families, who were provided group houses under a government scheme 20 years ago, had been living in unhygienic conditions without lavatory and drainages. The residents had been left with the only option of easing themselves by the roadsides and other public places.

The group houses had developed cracks and on the verge of collapsing. The residents were living in constant fear, M. Palanichamy, a representative of the residents, said, calling for provision of houses under the scheme. District secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi Vinayagamoorthy led the residents in presenting the petition to Collector S. Prabakar.
