Vellore has over 30 lakh voters

24,224 new voters added; final roll will be kept for public view at 1,627 polling stations

A total of 24,224 voters were newly added to the electoral roll of Vellore district. As per the final electoral roll for 2018 that was released by Collector S. A. Raman on Wednesday, there are a total of 30,51,171 voters in the district.

According to a press release, the Election Commission of India had ordered special summary revision of roll with January 1, 2018 as the qualifying date. In Vellore district, the draft electoral roll was published on October 3, 2017.

From this date, forms for summary revision were accepted from the public till December 15, 2017.

A total of 26,961 forms (form 6) were received for inclusion of names. Of this, 24,224 were accepted. Apart from this, 1,685 form-7 applications, 8,366 form-8 applications and 2,362 form-8A applications were accepted.

Following this, the final electoral roll for 2018 for the 13 constituencies in Vellore district has been released.

More women voters

Accordingly, there are a total of 30,51,171 voters – 14,98,656 men voters, 15,52,408 women and 107 transgender voters in the district.

Gudiyatham had the highest number of voters with 2,66,269 – 1,30,309 men, 1,35,945 women and 15 transgender voters.

Women outnumbered the men voters in 12 of the 13 constituencies. Only Tirupattur had more number of men voters – 1,11,608 as against 1,11,355 women voters.

The final electoral roll will be kept for public view at the 1,627 polling stations in the district, the release said.
