Housing Minister R. Vaithilingam launched his campaign on Monday for the Assembly elections at Orathanad constituency from where he was seeking re-election.
The Minister was coordinating arrangements at Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s election campaign launch in Chennai on Saturday when all candidates of the party kicked off their campaign across the State.
AIADMK farmers’ wing State secretary Durai Govindarajan declared open the party’s Assembly election office at Orathanad in the presence of senior local leaders, including Thanjavur MP K. Parasuraman, district Jayalalithaa Peravai secretary M. Sekar, and Assembly constituency party secretary G. Devadoss.

Mr. Vaithilingam then drove to Mealaiyur Sri Kaliyamman temple near Kannanthangudi and got on to the campaign vehicle from near the temple to mark the launch of his electioneering.
Thanjavur south party district secretary and MLA M. Rengasamy, Papanasam MLA R. Duraikannu, Thanjavur Mayor Savithri Gopal, and farmers’ wing secretary T.K. Samy Ayya canvassed for the party candidate in various areas of Orathanad constituency.
