Udhagamandalam school observes Hiroshima Day

Say no to war, give peace a chance. Underscoring this children studying in classes one to five of the YMCA school observed Hiroshima Day here on Tuesday. In the programme organised under the aegis of the Public Awareness Association of Udhagamandalam, the children also denounced intolerance and emphasised the need to promote communal harmony. Holding candles, the children paid homage to those who had lost their lives in Hiroshima and other wars. YMCA president B.R. Lambert presided over the programme.

YMCA secretary L. Max Williard Jayaprakash said that true love and affection transcends all barriers. YWCA Project Manager V. Patric Titus said that only by holding hands can a peaceful atmosphere be created.

President of the Public Awareness Association of Udhagamandalam G. Janardhanan said that all the countries should cut their defence expenditure. Former headmaster H.M. Raju Bettan said that leaders should strive to reduce tension along the borders and deal effectively with corruption.
