A four-member gang murdered two persons at Nilakottai near here on Saturday. The deceased were identified as M. Vel Murugan (42) of Valli Nagar and his friend and autorickshaw driver R. Selvam (35) of Azhagampatti in Nilakottai. Police said that the deceased had a business rivalry with one Murugan over pig trade. On Friday, during a quarrel, Velmurugan and his accomplices assaulted Murugan at Sankarankilai.
To take revenge, the four-member gang attacked Velmurugan and his friend Selvam with lethal weapons while they were sleeping on the terrace of Velmurugan’s house. Several cases were pending against Velmurugan. Bagavathi and Raj Kumar of Nilakottai surrendered before Dindigul north police station.
