Two killed as car rams container truck

Two persons were killed and another person was injured as the car they were travelling in crashed into a container truck stationed on the roadside near a weigh bridge on Harbour Road here on Saturday night.

According to police, the three were returning to Madurai from Tiruchendur in the car when the accident occurred.

P. Ravi (35) of Indrani Nagar, Madurai, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle after he swerved to avoid collision with another truck that moved in the opposite direction, and dashed against the stationary container truck.

While Ravi died on spot, R. Raja Prabu (34) from Doak Nagar in Madurai was brought dead to hospital. They were working in private banks in Madurai.

Based on a complaint lodged by M. Vijayaraman (34) of Madurai, who suffered a simple injury, Sipcot police have registered a case under Section 304 (a) of the IPC.
