Two persons - Malik (32) and Ramkumar (30)- were arrested here on Friday on the charge of murdering B. Venkatesan (27) of the East Gate area, a rowdy sheeter, a couple of days back. It is said that the duo intervened when Venkatesan and his friends tried to bully a cracker shop owner demanding free crackers from him. In the melee, Malik and Ramkumar had hit Venkatesan with a log in which he suffered grievous injuries and was rushed to the Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The Thanjavur East Police arrested the duo and produced them before the Judicial Magistrate who remanded them in judicial custody.
