Two held for misuse of gas cylinders

The police arrested two persons on the charge of misusing domestic gas cylinders on Saturday.

On a tip off, a Civil Supplies Department team led by Arunachalam, District Supply Officer, conducted surprise check of vehicles at Solampallam on the road leading to Kamanayakkanpatti.

They intercepted a mini-load van, which was transporting seven domestic gas cylinders and two commercial cylinders. The occupants of the vehicle, Gopal (43) of Jagir Saminayakkanpatti and Subramanian (50) of Nazhikkalpatti, were said to have purchased the cylinders and sold them at higher rate for commercial purpose.

The officials handed over both to the Civil Supplies CID police, who arrested them. The cylinders and the vehicle were seized. He warned people that stringent action would be taken against those misusing the domestic cylinders for commercial purpose.
