Two persons were died and four others were injured in a road accident near here on Monday.
Police said Balaji (30), Rajasekar (28), Satheesh Kumar (24), Dinesh Babu (21), Manikandan (25), and Sunil Lal were retuning in a car from a temple festival at Amma Chatram near here when their vehicle hit a blue metal laden truck near the Fish Market area of the town in the early hours of Monday.
The front portion of the car crashed into the truck killing Balaji and Rajasekar seated in the front on the spot. The other occupants of the car suffered grievous injuries and were rushed to the Kumbakonam GH from where the critically injured Sunil Lal has been referred to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. Kumbakonam West police have registered a case.
