TWAD Board urged to ease water scarcity

Health Minister V.S. Vijay has urged officials of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board to take steps to end the drinking water scarcity in Vellore.

Dr. Vijay, who reviewed works of various departments at the Collectorate here on Saturday, held discussions with TWAD Board officials to find a permanent solution to the drinking water problem in Vellore. He told the officials of the Corporation to take steps to implement the complete underground drainage scheme in a proper manner.

He sought the views of officials of the departments concerned on establishment of industries in Vellore.

Dr. Vijay urged the officials of the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services to take steps to provide and improve basic infrastructure in all taluk headquarters hospitals in Vellore district.

He told them to ensure at the earliest that conditions at the hospitals are improved and conducive to hygienic treatment. E. Saravanavelraj, District Revenue Officer and Vellore District Collector-in-charge, N. Aruljothi Arasan, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, and Jagannathan, Sub-Collector, Ranipet, participated in the meeting.
