TNPSC Secretary shifted

The State government on Monday shifted the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) secretary T. Udhayachandran to a post which he held ten years ago.

The 1995-batch IAS officer will replace A.S. Jaffry, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, as the Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Small Tea Growers Industrial Cooperative Tea Factories Federation Ltd. headquartered at Coonoor.

Mr. Udhayachandran is credited with being instrumental in exposing alleged irregularities in recruitment to different categories of posts conducted by the TNPSC in recent years.

Based on his complaint to the Chief Secretary, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption registered a criminal case and conducted searches on the premises of the then TNPSC Chairman, several Members and some officials.

After R. Nataraj, a retired Director-General of Police, took over as the new Chairman, Mr. Udhayachandran brought innovative schemes to make functioning of the TNPSC easy and effective.

One-time registration of candidates, online applications and computer-based question papers were some of his initiatives
