TCS techie’s death: CB-CID inspect spot

Uma Maheswari was an employee with TCS, Siruseri. Her death case was transferred to CB-CID and the officials inspected the spot of her death.

A day after the probe into the death of a 24-year-old woman IT employee was transferred to Crime Branch-CID of Tamil Nadu Police, CB-CID on Monday inspected the spot where her body was found, officials said.

They looked for clues for the whereabouts of the woman’s mobile phone which was switched off a few minutes after she left her office on the night of February 13, 2014, they said.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had on Sunday transferred the investigation into the death of the woman, an employee of Tata Consultancy Services, to the CB-CID.

The victim, a native of Salem district, lived in Medavakkam and had been working with TCS at Siruseri since February 2013.

Tamil Nadu Police has also announced a reward of Rs. two lakh for information leading to the identity of the culprits.

The autopsy revealed she had stab injuries in four places, which is believed to have led to her death.

The woman’s body was found near her office premises near Siruseri in the city outskirts on Sunday, nine days after she went missing.
