Tangedco gets new CMD

M. Sai Kumar, IAS, was on Tuesday given the responsibility of steering the power utility struggling to keep Tamil Nadu free from power cuts.

Mr. Sai Kumar has had a reasonably good stint as Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department for over three years.

He will take over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) after the incumbent K. Gnanadesikan was made Chief Secretary.

In the reshuffle of a dozen IAS officers, Revenue Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi was posted as Secretary, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj. N.S. Palaniappan, Rural Development Secretary till now, was posted as Public Works Secretary.

He served in the same post eight years ago. R. Venkatesan was posted as Revenue Secretary. Md. Nasimuddin was posted as Secretary of the Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department. M.P. Nirmala, who was Food Secretary till now, was posted as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation (TANSI).

Government Data Centre Commissioner Dharmendra Pratap Yadav was posted as Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department. The incumbent, Mohan Pyare, was posted as Secretary of the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department.

Niranjan Mardi was posted as Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board, and Irai Anbu as Commissioner of Economics and Statistics. C. Manoharan, formerly Pudukottai Collector, was posted as Director of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business.
